Professional Development for Schools
Marie recognizes that many educators are continuously seeking new ways to improve their practice & support students within their classrooms. Of equal importance is the well-being these educators…….which starts with self-care.
As a former special education teacher & school administrator, Marie has spent numerous years mentoring teachers & and providing professional development workshops & consultations to schools. She is available to provide a variety of training workshops tailored to your school’s needs.
Some workshops have included:
What Does it Feel Like to Be My Student?
As we learn best through direct experience, this workshop is highly experiential & lots of fun! The activities are designed so that all participants will experience what it feels like to have a learning difference.
Restitution – A Different Way
We all know those students who apologize for their mistakes, but don’t mean it. Who sneak around so that they didn’t get caught the next time. Who railroad lessons & do not seem to care when given consequences.
If a child is to truly learn from their mistakes they need to develop an understanding of who they want to be. This authenticity guides them in how they make amends or reparations.
Executive Functioning
Executive functioning is one of the more recent “buzz words” in education. This workshop gives a concrete understanding of executive functioning. It also provides many ideas & hands on material that can be used in the classroom to foster the development of EF skills.
Compassion Fatigue & Secondary Trauma In Educators
This workshop focuses on recognizing signs of trauma and compassion fatigue in educators. The presentation is highly practical in nature and includes strategies / resources for self-care as well as useful classroom “tips”.
Bringing Mindfulness To Educators & Students
A mindful practice reaches way beyond deep breathing exercises and can be quite different for each person. This presentation looks at many questions related to mindfulness and allows participants to experience different forms of mindfulness – both for themselves and for their students.
